The Summer Programs office is pleased to offer a selection of online pre-university programs for high school students during the winter 2022 semester. As part of the University Without Walls (UWW), the programs of summer team up with campus departments to provide high school students with opportunities to experience college-level academics through residential and online university programs.
Full-time and part-time employees of the UMass system are eligible for a tuition credit for their dependents. Full-time employees benefit from a 50% reduction in tuition fees; part-time employees benefit from a 25% reduction.
Winter Sports Leadership Academy
January 3 – 7, 2022 | Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Taught by the world-ranked No. 1 Mark H. McCormack Sports Management Department, UMass Amherst’s Winter Sports Academy is a week-long seminar focused on the modern front office. Students will experience both the modern sports franchise and the ecosystem that surrounds it, with an emphasis on Fenway Sport Management (FSM) and its properties.
Winter Design Academy
January 3 – 24, 2022 | Monday-Thursday, 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
In this three-week program, high school students will register for a regular introductory UMass architecture course offered online. The Winter Design Academy (Arch 100) is an immersive and foundational design studio course that explores the vital effects of architecture both as a way of thinking and understanding the world around us, and as an engaged professional practice. to proactively shape our built environment.
Introduction to research in psychology
January 3 – 14, 2022 | Monday-Friday, 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
We see claims about psychological studies all over the media and social media, but how do we know what to believe? During this course, you will have first-hand experience in interpreting, designing, and performing your own psychological experiences. You will also learn how to program simple scripts in R to clean up and process the data we get from these tasks.
Open to current students in grades 9-12. Applications are open until December 20 on the Summer Programs website.
